Package Design - Gingham Textiles

Gingham Textiles is a slow fashion brand rooted in sustainability, quality, and timeless style. Inspired by the classic gingham pattern, the brand takes its name as a nod to designs that never go out of fashion: clean lines, simple charm, and a sense of nostalgia. That same pattern shows up across their packaging. This company’s overall branding is cohesive through all of their packaging, from boxes and other package materials to the clothing tags. 


  • The brand appeals to millennials and Gen Z who are tired of fast fashion and prefer timeless, well-made pieces that fit into a slower, more intentional lifestyle. Although the branding is targeted towards the younger generation, the older generation is still in mind and considered part of the target audience. 


  • I made this logo for the Illustrator course. For this expansion project, I created the packaging, the billboard, and the other branding materials. I started with the billboard and it grew from there. I chose mockups that I felt matched the company’s brand identity then edited them in Photoshop. Throughout the design process I only used the logo and the variations from the original project. I added more colors and patterns but tried to keep the overall packaging cohesive. 

  • Design Problems: The main issue with this design process was coming up with packaging materials for a clothing brand. Compared to a food or drink company, there isn’t much to work with for a clothing company. The mockups I found were hard to find and I had to go through a lot of trial and error. 


    Design Solutions: To solve this issue, I researched some clothing brands that I really liked. I looked at what kind of materials they had designed for their packaging and then looked for good mockups. I also went back and used the same mockups from past assignments. I think this helped a lot because it got the ball rolling for me to think of other mockups.

Focusing on the set color palette and gingham pattern, I designed a clean and cohesive branding theme. This design project includes packaging design materials, as well as a billboard advertisement and a clothing tag for the company.
