Ad Campaign - Lego x Warhol

This ad campaign imagines a limited edition collaboration between LEGO and Andy Warhol, celebrating creativity and pop culture. The series features three poster designs made entirely with LEGO bricks, inspired by Warhol’s iconic portraits of Twiggy, Marilyn Monroe, and Jackie Kennedy. Each poster is part of a mystery box release, inviting collectors and fans to discover which design they’ll receive. The campaign also includes branded tote bags and sticker packs to extend the experience. Blending Warhol’s bold, recognizable style with LEGO’s playful medium, this project brings art, nostalgia, and hands-on fun together in a fresh, collectible way.

  • This ad campaign targets art enthusiasts, pop culture fans, and adult LEGO collectors who appreciate Andy Warhol’s bold, commercial aesthetic. It also appeals to creative consumers, designers, and trendsetters drawn to visually striking products. Parents and educators looking for engaging, artistic toys will find value in the campaign, as will younger LEGO builders interested in unique, colorful sets inspired by contemporary art. By merging LEGO’s hands-on creativity with Warhol’s iconic style, the campaign makes art interactive and accessible for a broad audience.

  • The process consisted of choosing the respective Warhol pieces that were going to be showcased and creating an ad. I began with a Lego pattern that would be placed over the image to illustrate texture and depth. I created the pattern by designing one Lego brick with the shape tool and then creating a custom pattern in Photoshop. After the pattern was created, I pixelated the image to give the image a more realistic texture. I then overlaid the pattern on the image and created the necessary adjustment layers to make the two layers blend seamlessly. I then added the Lego logo in the corner of the canvas to illustrate the brand’s association.

  • Design Problems: Since I had never created a custom pattern before, there were issues of where to begin. Once the individual LEGO brick was created, it took trial and error to figure out how to replicate it into a pattern and then save the said pattern for later.

Design Solutions: To solve this problem, I watched two or three YouTube videos to learn how to make a pattern from scratch.

Ad Campaign

To market this brand, I used the artwork of Andy Warhol, a contemporary artist known for his colorful, mass-produced images of celebrities, everyday objects, and American culture, blending art with commercial aesthetics. By blending the two, I have created an ad campaign for the Lego brand, promoting their new line of Andy Warhol-based products. This includes posters, instruction manuals, merchandise, and a collaborative logo.
